Upon the death of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Crockett, her baby daughter was taken by Mrs. Jacobs and given the loving care of a mother and grandmother in one. Mr. Jacobs died in April 1924.

Mrs. Jacobs has lived in Avoca for more than 49 years, her husband being associated with his brothers in the blacksmith and wagon repair business for thirty years. Mrs. Jacobs had a slight stroke about a year ago and six months ago she had another since then she has been confined to her bed under the care of a nurse. Mrs. Jacobs was kin, true friend, and neighbor and esteemed by all who knew her. During the long months her son, Steve, devoted every possible minute to the care and attention of his mother, doing all that could possibly be done to make her comfortable and happy.
