James Slightam, 83, Garner township, died Thursday night at his residence.

Mr. Slightam a retired farmer had resided 16 years in this county. He was a member of Ancient Order of United Workmen lodge.

Surviving are two sons Frank and John of Council Bluffs two daughters, Miss Mabel Slightam and Mrs Florence Lauter of Council Bluffs, three sisters, Mrs. Julia Terry and Mrs. Ellen Clifton of Omaha, Miss Ann Slightam of Madison, Wis., a half sister, Mrs. Kate Craven of Omaha, a half brother, Henry Barry of Denver, Col., six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Woodring's chapel with the Rev. Roy Jones of Glendale Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill.
