Helen I. Christiansen, age 91, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2008, at Risen Son Christian Village.

She was born in Garden City, Kansas to the late Mark and Leila (Jordan) Teague. She grew up in Council Bluffs and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for various companies, last retiring from Red Giant Oil Company in 1986.

She married Alvin Christiansen on August 11, 1940. She belonged to the Pinochle Club, Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed square dancing, cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in 1995; brothers, Robert, Derral and Keith.

She is survived by 2 sons, Larry of Council Bluffs, and Lynn and Diane Christiansen of Boise, Idaho; daughter and husband, Carolyne and John Warlick of Prattville, Alabama; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Johnston of Council Bluffs; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bishop David Hanks officiating. Burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or The Center.
