Wayne W. Reed

Wayne W. Reed, 88, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 19 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

He was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Lincoln, Neb., to Daniel A. and Harriet (Rembush) Reed. He was a conductor on the Union Pacific railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge Excelsior No. 259 AF & AM, United Transportation Union and U.P. Oldtimers No. 3.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his wife, Iva, in 1989.

Survivors include four daughters, Anne Kernes and husband, Don, JoEllen Cook and husband, Ron, Carol LeRette and husband, Don, all of Council Bluffs, and Janice Pinneo and husband, Don, of Omaha; one son, Robert, of Council Bluffs; one sister, Hazel Marr, of Council Bluffs; his dog "Jake"; caretaker and friend, Nancy Earlywine of Council Bluffs; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Excelsior Lodge No. 259 AF & AM Masonic service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Revs. Jeff Kraft and David Erickson co-officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn with a lunch following at First Christian Church.

Memorials may be offered to SOLAS.
