Jack D. Core, age 67 passed away June 10, 2008.

He was born in Oakland, Iowa, on February 18, 1941, to Edgar and Laura (Parm) Core and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958. Jack married Marlene Rae Schmidt on October 21, 1961, and were married until her passing on May 31, 2006. Jack worked construction until 1964, when he started at Pepsi Company for the next 27 years retiring as a supervisor. He then started at Metz Baking from 1990 to 2003, and later started driving a school bus for Underwood Schools until 2006.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene (Schmidt) Core; his parents; brother, Franklin Lee Core; sisters, Thelma Effie Neve, June Brakefield, Phyllis Matthews and Williedean Betts.

Survivors include sons, Richard Dean Core and wife, Nancy, of Peru, Neb., Russell Todd Core and wife, Penny, of Council Bluffs; daughter, Jodie Diane McConnaughey and husband, Mark, of Auburn, Neb.; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, brother, Donald E. Core and wife, Janice, of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Betty Lou Frieze, of Council Bluffs; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family Saturday 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Kraft, officiant. Family will direct memorials.
