Frieda C. Gilmore

Frieda C. Gilmore, 97, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 16 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born Dec. 30, 1905, in Harrison County to Hans P. and Inga M. (Bro) Nelson. She previously lived in Mondamin and Modale, moving to Council Bluffs in 1985. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, its Charity Circle, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Modale.

Mrs. Gilmore was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W., on June 8, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Ruffcorn of Council Bluffs, DeLores Petersen and husband, Walter, of Council Bluffs; two sons, Lyle Gilmore and wife, Mary, of Council Bluffs and Richard Gilmore and wife, Kathi, of Bismark, N.D.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gus George officiating, followed by a luncheon in the church hall. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Modale Community Center.
