Eugene E. "Gene" Graalfs, age 79, of Council Bluffs, passed away April 30, 2008, at Woodlands Rehabilitation Center.

Gene was born January 10, 1929, in Council Bluffs, to the late Edward W. and Elisa (Tiarks) Graalfs. He graduated from Treynor, Iowa High School in 1946. Gene married Lou Ellen "Tootie" Leaders on August 19, 1949, in Council Bluffs. To this union one son was born. Gene was a farmer; cattle feeder and cattle buyer his entire life. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ; Quick, Iowa Amber Lodge #569 A.F. & A.M.; Tangier Shrine and its Air Patrol. Gene served on the CBSB Bank board and the Federal Land Bank board.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn at birth, and son, Rodney L. Graalfs on September 8, 1993.

Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Tootie Graalfs; grandson, Justin Graalfs; brother, Ronald Graalfs and wife, Eileen, all of Council Bluffs; sister, Phyllis Leaders and husband Lowell of Minden, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

A Masonic service conducted by the Quick Amber Lodge #569 will be Sunday at 5:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Monday, 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 400 Cloverdale Drive. Interment Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a lunch following at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's UCC or Asera Care Hospice.
