The following obituary is copied from the Council Bluffs, Iowa Nonpariel dated November 14, 2005:

John Raymond Goodman, age 77, of Council Bluffs, died Nov. 11, 2005, at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

Mr. Goodman was born in Dunlap to Lester and Bernice (Madison) Goodman on Oct. 22, 1928. He lived in Council Bluffs most of his life.

He attended St. Francis School and served in the U. S. Army in World War II.

John worked for International Harvester and retired from K&K Bus Service. He was a member of St. Peters Church and the Lions Club. He enjoyed photography and spending time with his family.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Boege) Goodman in 1980 as well as twin daughters, Carol and Cheryl Goodman, and daughter Debbie Swisher, sisters Bette Hunter and Audrey Wheeler.

Survivors include daughters: Sue Blunk of Council Bluffs, Julie Goodman and friend Roger Chew of Crescent, Kim Grinstead and husband Kurt of Omaha, and Vicky Bell of Vacaville, Calif. Sons: Doug Goodman and wife Deb of Council Bluffs and Craig Goodman of Omaha. 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friend Norma Meier of Omaha. Sisters: Virginia Carberry, Ruth Messerli and husband Paul, and Nadine Watson and husband Walt, all of Council Bluffs.

Rosary Recitation will be Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. at Cutler-ONeill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Visitation with the family following Rosary service until 9:00 p.m. at the Mortuary. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church. Rev. Chuck Kottas, Pastor will officiate. Burial at Cedar Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites tendered by American Legion Post #2. A luncheon will follow at the Parish hall.

Memorial may be offered to Heartland Family Services of Council Bluffs.
