GLENWOOD - Ernest J. McClurkin, 88, of Glenwood died Jan. 10 in Council Bluffs.

Mr. McClurkin was born in Philadelphia. His career was in the military, retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant. He also served his country during World War II. Mr. McClurkin was a resident of Glenwood since 1975. He was a member of First Christian Church of Glenwood.

He and his wife, Thelma, were married for 52 years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, James W.; one granddaughter, Carrie Mathews; in-laws, August and Phyllis Pontow, Peggy Wheeler and Bruno and Helen Leu; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at First Christian Church.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Orville Terry and the Rev. Evan Williams officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to the church. Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood is in charge of the arrangements.
