Ruth L. Millard, age 92, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away April 4, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

Ruth was born September 17, 1915 in Council Bluffs to the late Oren A. and Clara (Eckhert) Snethen. She will be remembered by her sense of humor, her love of people and life itself. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gordon Millard in 1983; daughter, Georgette R. Petersen in 1999; and sister, Ruby Larimore.

Ruth is survived by 6 daughters, Marion Recher and husband Verdean, of Council Bluffs, Janice Goreg, of Sparks, Nev., Sheila Harris and husband Gene, of Ocean Pines, Md., Cheri Weiden and husband Jerry, of Peru, Ill., Deb Love and husband Ted, of Glenwood, Iowa, Tonya Enyart and husband Michael, of Grove City, Ohio; 2 sons, Larry Millard and wife Linda, of Hereford, Ariz., Monty Millard and wife Julie, of Council Bluffs; 25 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, special friends and caregivers.

Visitation with the family, Monday, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with Frank Fast, chaplain of Hospice with Heart officiating. Interment Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a lunch following at Broadway United Methodist Church.
