Jerome Vandernoot

The funeral for Jerome "Jerry" F. Vandernoot, 69, of Council Bluffs will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Springer officiating.

Mr. Vandernoot died Jan. 5 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born in St. Louis, Mo. He moved to Council Bluffs in 1972. He attended college for four years. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during the Korean War. He was a security guard for HTL Trucking. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 104; and AMVETS No. 152.

Mr. Vandernoot and his wife, Denise, were married 14 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth, in 1988.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Sonia and Kristina; one son, Jeffrey; brother; sister; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garner Township Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2.

Memorials may be offered to the family.
