Paul Edward Delanty, age 95, died on March 16, 2008.

He was happily, a life-long resident of Manawa. Along with many successful endeavors, he built and ran the Delanty Bait and Tackle Shop and many people admired all the flowers he and Elsie planted. Growing watermelon and tomatoes were a specialty for him. He seemed to know this was coming as he wrote most of this obituary himself a few days prior to his death.

He writes: "He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elsie; sons, Roger and wife Vicky, Richard and wife Michele; daughter, Jeanne Mullikin and husband Ray; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren. I also leave the rest of you good people. I'll put in a good word with St. Peter for all of you." "Thanks a lot Vicky (daughter-in-law) for all your kindness and looking after us. I would have been gone a long while ago if Vicky hadn't been there; and good little Boomer and Hobo (his puppies). Don't shed any tears as I won't know if they are for sadness or joy. I'll ask the Lord if I can't keep a watchful eye on you people and Boomer and Hobo." "Elsie, I'll be standing along with St. Peter to welcome you and show you around. I hope they have garage sales. I wonder what kind of merchandise they have. I'll try to catch some of the angels but will have to wait till they go roost." Paul was always ready with a bit of humor and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Mueller and Nancy Gartin; brothers, Joe and Don. Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Funeral service, Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a lunch following at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, 1320 W. South Omaha Bridge Rd.
