Thomas Hough

Thomas Hough, 86, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 5 at Indian Hills Nursing Home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Neola. He graduated in 1936 from Underwood High School. He farmed until 1949, worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 26 years and retired from U.S. Postal Service in 1980 after 21 years as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Mr. Hough and his wife, Betty (Tollen), were married 51 years. Mr. Hough was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Evers.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter, Kathy Hrubsky and husband, Edward, of Omaha; three sons, Thomas and wife, Susan, of Garner, N.C., Phillip and wife, Blanche, of Aurora, Colo., and Dennis and wife, Pamela, of St. Paul, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Gross officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Holy Family.

Memorials may be offered to St. Albert Schools, Holy Family Church and American Cancer Society.
