Arlene Johnson

Arlene Johnson, 74, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 3 at her home.

She had lived at her residence since 1960. Previously, she had lived in Spencer.

She was born in Loveland to James and Viola (Schroder) Kermeen of Feb. 14, 1928.

She was an interior renovator for Knox & Co. and several other realtors. She was a housekeeper for George Elias, owner of the 64 Club, for many years.

She was a Lutheran and an Avon distributor for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Johnson, on April 18, 1999.

She is survived by her mother, Viola Kermeen of Crescent; four daughters, Sharon Blokland, Jolene Christiansen and husband, Mike, both of Council Bluffs, Roxanne Koenig of Red Oak, Sherry Koch of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, William (Bill) Ellerbeck and wife, Marilyn, of Council Bluffs; a stepdaughter, Joanne Cerce and husband, Dave, of Middleboro, Mass.; a sister, Lois Nihsen and husband, Grant, of Crescent; a brother, Ed Kermeen and wife Janet, of Blair, Neb.; Special friend, Charles Colton of Council Bluffs; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family will be Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the mortuary with the Rev. Roger Prescott officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park with a lunch to follow at St. John Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be offered to the Visiting Nurses Association, Meals on Wheels or Hospice Preferred Choice.
