In Memory: Melvin Bamesberger

Melvin Bamesberger, 88, of Council Bluffs, died May 24 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

He was born September 20, 1914, on a farm near Minden to Gus and Christina Bamesberger and graduated from Minden High School.

He also attended the University of Northern Iowa for three years. He was a retired painter and worked for Allied Chemical for 22 years. He had lived in Council Bluffs since 1944.

He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mr. Bamesberger was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Rose, September 15, 2001, and an infant daughter, Ruby Rose.

Survivors include two daughters, Wendy Storey and husband, William, of Council Bluffs and Dorothea Smith of Silver City; one brother, Harry Bamesberger of Valparaiso, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

The funeral was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gus George, pastor, officiating.

Burial was at Minden Cemetery with a lunch following at the church.

Memorials may be offered to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
