In Memory: Herman Stange

Herman H. "Pete" Stange, 91, of Council Bluffs died March 16 at Risen Son Christian Village.

He was born October 9, 1912, in Treynor to John Detlef Stange and Dora Catherine (Bahr). He lived most of his life in Treynor-McClelland area. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Zion Congregational Church, Treynor. He was a 50-year shipper to Omaha Stockyards.

Mr. Stange was preceded in death by his wife, Honor Clara Stange, on April 23, 1986. He was also preceded by brothers, Elmo and Detlef, and by son-in-law, Garland Cryer.

Survivors include daughter, Connie J. Cryer, of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Kirk Cryer and wife, Cathy, of Madison, Wisconsin, Shelly Bremel and husband, Larry, of Landover, Maryland, and Timothy Cryer of Council Bluffs; great-grandchildren, Joel and Hannah Cryer; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held Friday evening at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion Congregational Church in Treynor with the Rev. John Rinde and Chaplain Paul Crane co-officiating.

Burial was in Zion Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church.

Memorials may be offered to Zion Congregational Church or Hospice Preferred Choice.
