In Memory: Debra E. O'Neill

Debra Ellen O'Neill, 39, of Neola died April 24 at her home.

She was born June 15, 1963, in Missouri Valley to James and Ardyce (Chittenden) O'Neill. She graduated from Tri-Center High School in 1981. She worked as a registered nurse until she suffered a serious back injury.

She was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and the American Angus Auxiliary and was the Iowa Angus Princess in 1980. In 1981, she was the Iowa Angus Auxiliary's first-place scholarship winner and the Harrison County Beef Queen.

She had the Reserve Champion Angus Heifer at the Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Show in 1978. She was president-elect of the Iowa Angus Auxiliary. She was a counselor at the Center for Pregnancy Counselors Hotline and a member of the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley, where she had been baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include her son, Jordan of Neola; parents James and Ardyce of Logan; sister, Jane O'Neill Hotz of Council Bluffs; brother, J.C. O'Neill of Logan; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A prayer service was held Sunday at 7 p.m. with visitation following at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley.

The funeral was held Monday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley.

Burial was at Harris Grove Cemetery in Logan.

Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley was in charge of arrangements.
