In Memory: William E. Downs
(May 8, 1925 - May 25, 2004)

William E. Downs, 79, died Tuesday, May 25, in Bakersfield, California. He was formerly of Underwood.

He and 'his wife Rose (Gallo) were married for 58 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include son John, two grandchildren, Katie Rose and James William Lee, all of Bakersfield; three sisters, Mary Mihaly and husband, John, of Council Bluffs, Margie Anderson and husband, Harold, of Underwood and Barbara Kutscher of Omaha; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Downs; two sons, Thomas and James; daughter Barbara Ann; two brothers, Thomas and John; and sister Clara Price.

He worked for many years in construction in Belton, Missouri, before retiring and moving to Bakersfield to be close to his family.
