In Memory: Fred Geise

Fred A. Geise, Jr., 69, a resident of Logan since 1952, died May 1, 2003, at his residence.

He was born October 1, 1933, to Fred A. Geise Sr. and Hertha Ruffner in Underwood. He was a graduate of Underwood High School.

He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and was a long time farmer and crop adjuster for Farmer Mutual Insurance Company for 20 years.

He was a member of Logan United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau board, Vintage Car Club and the Logan-Magnolia School Board.

He drove a bus for the Logan-Magnolia School District for 17 years, and enjoyed farm sales and collecting.

He was married for 45 years to his wife, Lyda (Vanhorn).

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Barb Oliver and husband, Dennis, of Logan, Beve Kennedy and husband, Bill, of San Diego, and Diane Rief and husband, Dale, of Crescent; three sons, David and wife, Ginger, of Missouri Valley, Steve and wife, Susan, of Norco, California, and Scott and wife, Alicia, of Rancho Santa Margaritta, California; nine grandchildren, Maria and Danielle Oliver, Lauren Kennedy, Camden. Bailey and Bo Geise, Megan, Mallory and Natt Rief; two sisters, Ruth Ann Tiarks of Treynor, and Karen Olsen and husband, Carroll, of Minden; a brother, Richard and wife, Nancy, of Underwood; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Geise Miller of Omaha.

A prayer service was held Sunday at 3 p.m. with visitation following at Cutler-O'Neil-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

The funeral was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Logan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Siems officiating.

Memorials may be offered to Logan-Magnolia Methodist Church or Alegent Health Mental Health Services.
