Severin N. "Vern" Michalski

Severin N. "Vern" Michalski, age 81, of Honey Creek, Iowa, passed away March 6, 2008, at his home.

Vern was born December 31, 1926, in Portsmouth, Iowa to the late Peter and Cecelia (Horn) Michalski. He served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Vern was a freight handler for P.I.E. Trucking for 33 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Vern was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Myrtle D. (Palmer) Michalski in 1992; daughter, Cydell; 3 sisters; 3 brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Gladys (Patten) Michalski of Honey Creek; daughters, Dola Mehsling, Dene' Schwartz both of Council Bluffs, Karna Sevirbul and husband Fred of Gilbert, Ariz; sons, Craig Michalski and wife Jeri of Ashalnd, Neb., Vaughn Michalski and wife Sandy of Blair, Neb., Drew Michalski and wife Lin of Omaha, Severin Michalski and wife Julie of Crescent, Iowa, Blake Michalski and wife Diane of Omaha, Brett Michalski and wife Lori of Stafford, Va; 44 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Thomas Bridges and wife Ruby of Council Bluffs, John Bridges and wife Linda of Pine Hill, N.J., Jim Bridges and wife Dennise of Council Bluffs, Mark Bridges and wife Pam of Omaha, Debra Driver and husband Roger of Underwood, Iowa, Sue McGee and husband Will of Paris, Ark.

Wake Service, Sunday, 4:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Chuck Kottas officiating.

Interment St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites tendered by VFW Post #737. A lunch will follow at St. Peter's Social Hall.
