In Memory: Mable Darrington

Mable I. Darrington, 98, of Bethany Lutheran Home flied May 11 at Bethany.

She was born December 21, 1906, in Boomer Township. She previously lived in Twining Village, Holland, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1930, the University of Iowa in 1936 and Columbia University, New York, in 1942 with a Master of Arts. She was an assistant nursing instructor at the University of Iowa 1936-1939, instructor at Ohio State University 1939-1942, assistant director of the School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut, 1942-1946, and assistant dean of the Nursing College at University of Cincinnati from 1946-1968. Mable was also a Red Cross nurse. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by parents, George and Christina Peterson Darrington; sister, Eva Rule; and brothers, Roy, Elmer, Clarence, Everett and Arnold.

Survivors include local nephews, Harley Darrington and wife, Joellen, and Owen Darrington and wife, Barbara, all of Underwood, and other nieces and nephews.

Family and friends met at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral home Friday morning for a procession to Grange Cemetery for graveside services with the Rev. Noel Kropp of Bethany Lutheran Home officiating.

Memorials may be offered to Bethany Lutheran Home.
