In Memory: Lurene Stuart

Lurene M. Stuart, 83, of Crescent died January 13 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1920, in Crescent to Charles and Maude Young Belt. She was a homemaker and devoted mother. She was a member of Hazel Dell Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America, County Extension Service, Tops & Kops and was a Cub Scout leader.

Mrs. Stuart and her husband, James, were married 62 years. She was preceded in death by a baby boy in 1948 and grandson, Cory Stuart, in 1997.

Survivors in addition to her husband include daughters, Elizabeth Walton and husband, David, of Crescent and LuAnne Christiansen and husband, Randy, of Glenwood; three sons, James C. and wife, Eddie, of Scott City, Missouri, Earl L. and wife, Judy, of Crescent and Robert D. and wife, Cindy, of Shelby; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Fielder, of Council Bluffs.

Visitation was held Friday evening at Cutler-O'Nei11-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Newman of Hazel Dell Methodist Church officiating.

Burial was in Crescent Cemetery with a luncheon following at the Fire Barn.

Memorials may be offered to Hazel Dell United Methodist Church.
