In Memory: Alda B. Albers

Alda Belle Elsberry Albers, 92, of Persia, died April 22, 2003 at Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on June 4, 1910 in Wareham, Nebraska, one of three children in the family of P.S. Elsberry and Gertie Vanderbilt Elsberry.

On December 11, 1930, she married Ora Albers. They were the parents of four children: Myron, Venita, Janis and Gary.

They lived in Council Bluffs after their marriage and then moved to Montana before moving back to the Persia area in 1943. They farmed three different farms over the years and in the late 1960s Alda moved into the town of Persia.

On the farm, Alda always had a big garden, which she loved tending. She spent her leisure time reading, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Persia Methodist Church.

Ora died in 1966. In 1996, Alda moved to the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center in Avoca.

Alda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ora and two sons, Myron and Gary.

Survivors include two daughters, Venita and her husband Arlon Grap of Persia and Janis Schutt of Council Bluffs; two daughters-in-law, Lois Albers of Persia and Monika Albers of Harlan; a sister, Lela Jensen of Brunswick, Nebraska; a brother, Earl Elsberry and his wife Lottie of Neligh; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held Thursday evening at Pauley Knutson Chapel in Persia. Funeral ceremonies were Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Persia Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Frank officiating.

Interment was in Valley View Cemetery at Persia.
