In Memory: Paul Howard Eggerss
(December 26, 1928 - November 4, 2004)

Paul Howard Eggerss, 75, of Shelby died November 5 at the Avoca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Avoca, Iowa.

Paul was the son of Paul and Helen Burmeister Eggerss. He attended school at Shelby and was a member of the graduating class of 1945.

On January 10, 1951, Paul married Nadine Heesch at Avoca. They made their home in the Avoca and Shelby areas where they raised five children: Brian, Alan, Bob, Paula and Jim. On February 25, 1952, Paul joined the United States Army at Omaha, Nebraska. He served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954 at Camp Carson, Colorado to the Army Reserves. Paul farmed all his life. He retired in 1992.

On March 27, 1993, Nadine passed away.

He was a member of a bowling league and card clubs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nadine. Survivors include his children: Alan Eggerss and his wife, Sara of Avoca; Bob Eggerss and his wife, Molly of Van Meter, Iowa; Paula Boeck and her special friend Scott Campbell of Tennant, Iowa; Jim Eggerss of Kansas City, Kansas; Brian Eggerss and his wife, Teresa of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and one step-grandchild; brothers, Ronald Eggerss and his wife Bonnie of Shelby; Ralph Eggerss and his wife, Joni of Shelby; sister, Joyce and her husband and Tom Rihner.

Visitation was held Sunday evening at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca. Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca.

Burial was at the Shelby Cemetery with military rites by the Shelby American Legion Post No. 240.
