Nadine Howerton

Nadine Mardell Howerton, 61, of Council Bluffs died Dec. 25 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born March 12, 1941, to Eugene and Antoinette (Kuester) Evans in Pawnee City, Neb. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Hofer, and a son, Troy Palen.

She and her husband, Leonard, were married 16 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three daughters, Kandi Pruett, Renee Palen and Wendy Palen, all of Council Bluffs; one son, Chuck Palen III of Fort Madison; one stepson, Steven Howerton of Honey Creek; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be 7 to 8:30 tonight. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home with the Rev. Delwayne Hahn officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
