Elwin Wayne "Bud" Bladt passed away Wednesday, 14 November 2007 at his home in Avoca, IA. He had attained the age of 81 years and 14 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, 17 November at 10:30 am at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, with Pastor Nancy Ross-Hullinger officiating. Burial was in the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, IA with military rites conducted by Fred Funston Post #227. Serving as honorary casket bearers for the service were Harold NIHSEN, Harley NIHSEN, Paul NIHSEN, Ronald NIHSEN, Stanley THIES, Steve BLADT, Larry BLADT, Dennis BLADT and Robert HUNDT. Active casket bearers were Brad HUNDT, David BLADT, David THIES, David WAHLING, Robert NIHSEN and Daniel BLADT. Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca was in charge of arrangements.

Elwin Wayne BLADT, the son of Daniel and Ida HOLDORF BLADT, was born on 31 October 1926 in Pleasant Township, Pottawattamie Co., IA.

Bud was baptized and confirmed at the Minden [IA] Congregational Church. He attended Pleasant Township Elementary and graduated from Shelby High School with the class of 1944.

After high school Bud entered the US Army on 14 February 1945. Bud received medals for Expert Rifle, Infantryman, Pacific Region Ribbon for good conduct and he received the rank of Sergeant.

Bud was united in marriage to Betty PETERSEN on 8 December 1950 at the Minden Congregation Church. To this union two children were born: Wayne and Dawn.

Bud was engaged in farming and raising cattle for over 50 years. As a hobby he raised quarter horses.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Avoca; his children Wayne BLADT and his wife Mary Beth of Avoca and Dawn and her husband Phil HOBBS of LaVista, NE; there grandchildren, Jonathan, Elaine and Anna; two step-grandchildren, Abigail and Ashley; two brothers, Donald BLADT of Shelby, and Willis BLADT and his wife Norma of Avoca; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
