Maynard Frank Willett passed away Thursday, 6 December 2007 at the Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, IA, having attained the age of 83 years, five months and 19 days.

Funeral services were held Monday, 10 December, at 10:30 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, IA with Pastor Dennis Reich as the clergy. Casket bearers were Dean WILLETT, Stanley THIES, James RUSSMANN, Douglas WILLETT, Andy WILLETT and Phil HOBUS. Interment was held in the Graceland Cemetery in Avoca. Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca was in charge of arrangements.

Maynard Frank Willett, the son of Rudolph and Mary LIPPOLD WILLETT was born on 17 June 1924 in rural James Township, [Pottawattamie Co.?] IA.

Maynard attended country school near Hancock, IA and then graduated from Hancock High School. He entered into the US Army in 1949 and was discharged after receiving a serious eye injury. He returned home to farm with his dad.

Maynard was united in marriage to Bonnie RUSSMANN on 14 Jun 1950 at the First Lutheran Church in Avoca.

They spent their married life on their farm in James Twp. and were in the process of moving to their home in Avoca.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Daniel. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; his brother Rudy WILLETT, Jr. of Milaca, MN; sisters-in-law Eleanore WILLETT of Avoca, Norma and her husband Duane HERRELL of Orange, CA, Shirley THIES of Avoca, Carol and her husband Clayton YOUNG of Hancock, Marjorie KOBS of Walnut, IA; and brothers-in-law Richard RUSSMANN of Avoca and Gary RUSSMAN and his wife Jane of Avoca; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
