Betty A. Whittaker

Family graveside services for Betty Ann Whittaker, 78, of Council Bluffs will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Whittaker died Dec. 9 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

She was born April 21, 1924, in Council Bluffs to George A. and Theresa (McDermott) Ahrens. She was a 1943 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. During World War II she worked at Martin Bomber Plant in Bellevue, Neb. She also worked at the former National Auto Supply, was a clerk for Northwestern Bell Telephone, and was main clerk and switchboard operator at both Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Mercy Hospital.

Mrs. Whittaker was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C., on Feb. 9, 1972.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Lenz and husband, Tom, of Clayton, Calif., Kristi Stemple and husband, Craig, of Council Bluffs and Sue Day and husband, Jim, of Omaha; one son, Dale Whittaker, and wife, Kathy Kerns, of Antioch, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be tonight from 7 to 8 at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Chapel.

Memorials may be offered to Bethany Lutheran Home, Make-A-Wish Foundation or American Lung Association.
