Lila M. Leaders

Lila M. Leaders, 73, of Council Bluffs died Dec. 6 at Risen Son Nursing Home.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1928, in Honey Creek to Francis and Emma (Price) Whittington. She graduated from Underwood High School in 1946. She lived in Minden from 1948-98. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1998.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Midlands Evangelical Free Church. She was a member of Gideons International and Farm Bureau.

She and her husband, Lauren, were married for 54 years.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Allen and wife, Connie, of Bellevue, Neb. and Marlin and wife, Sherry, of Duncanville, Texas; two daughters, Lavonne Toner and husband, Tim, of Dubuque and Carol Gregg and husband, Larry, of Hawarden; two brothers, Darrell Whittington and wife, Jeanine, of Austin, Texas, and Arlon Whittington of McClelland; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O?Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Midland Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Don Hale officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the church, Gideons International, the nursing home or Alzheimers Association.
