Edith May Thompson, 84 years, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 29, 2007, at her home.

Born April 27, 1923, at rural Council Bluffs, to the late Harold "Pete" and Alda (Franklin) Edwards, she was a lifetime resident of this area. She graduated from Glenwood High School, in 1940. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Thompson, who passed away in 1996.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam Jones (Randy), Council Bluffs, Patti Thompson (John Ellenberger), Groton, Mass., Lu Thompson, Carson, Iowa, Jan Stephen (Dick), Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, 6-8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Friends and family will meet at the funeral home, Monday, 2 p.m., and cortege to Garner Township Cemetery, for 2:30 p.m. graveside service by Rev. Perry Bishop, United Methodist minister, and a high school classmate of Edith.

Memorials may be offered to either American Heart Association or Parkinson Foundation.
