Vergie Lois (Wheat) Stichler, age 80, of Council Bluffs, passed away October 12, 2007, at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs.

Vergie was born June 11, 1927, in Hayward Okla., to Herbert Eugene and Hettie Ina (Hartline) Wheat. Vergie married Billy Eugene Stichler on May 13, 1945, in Haskell, Okla. During her years, she was employed at Safeway, Mercy Hospital, Jennie Edmundson Hospital, Blue Star, Estee Lauder Representative, owned/ operated Hungry Sorbuster in Missouri Valley, Iowa, and a nanny.

Survivors include her daughter, Jannie Lois (Stichler) Stream and husband, Howard (Skip) of Huntsville, Ala.; adopted son, Robbie Eugene Harper of Huntsville; 2 grandsons, Scott Randall Stichler and wife, Kim of Colorado Springs, Colo., Robbie Eugene Harper of Huntsville, Ala.; step grandson, Shadd Stream of Missouri Valley; granddaughter, Darrielle Dawn (Stichler) Mills and husband, Gary of Peyton, Colo.; 7 great grandchildren, Shelby Jane Harper of Huntsville, Dustin Colt Mills, Gary Thomas Mills, Dawson James Mills and Mark Allen Greshman of Peyton, Rachel Marie Stichler and William Anthony Stichler of Colorado Springs; sisters, Shirley June Shriver of Council bluffs, Ethel Lorene Zuroski of Odebolt, Iowa, and Darlene Neoma Patterson and husband, Johnnie Lee of Omaha, Neb.; brothers, Delbert Ray Wheat of Dumfries, Va., Donnie Eugene Wheat and wife, Kathy (Parker) of Shellknob, Mo.

Vergie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy; son, Jerry Wayne Stichler in 2006; brothers, Curtis Roland Wheat, Arvel Clifford Wheat and Henry Perry Wheat, half brother, Ernest Levoy Wheat and sister, Betty Lou Winey in 2006.
