Maria A. Steinbaugh nee Holmgard, age 94, died peacefully, at St. Joseph Hospital, in Chicago, Ill., on November 14, 2007.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late John Steinbaugh, and the mother of the late Ann Nagle (Jim), the late Doug Steinbaugh (Linda), and Robert Steinbaugh. She was born in Council Bluffs, but she and her family lived in many locations, from coast to coast. She loved to work in her garden, and delighted in the entertaining of her friends and family.

Maria is survived by son, Robert (Branka); sisters, Claire Somers and Elizabeth O'Brien; grandchildren, Kathy, Bud, Christopher, and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Claire, Will, and Sophie; and many nephews and nieces.

Maria was a loving, caring person and will be dearly missed. It was her wish that her remains be donated for medical research.
