Jim Morrow (1957-2007)

Jim Morrow, 50, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died unexpectedly while traveling home on I-80 from a business trip on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

On January 24, 1957, Jim was born to William and Ellie Morrow in Castro Valley, Calif. Jim attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in Iowa in 1976.

After high school, Jim married Holly Albright and had two daughters, Mindy and Leslie. Jim moved to Council Bluffs where he eventually began working for Brinlee Home Improvement Company.

In 1983, he married Mary Koch of Fort Dodge and in 1990, together they began owning and operating Hawkeye/Nebraska Siding, Window and Door Inc. Jim and Mary adopted their son Alex Morrow in 1996. The Morrows have been members of the St Patrick's Catholic Church for 25 years.

Jim enjoyed hunting with his father and uncles as a young man. After moving to Council Bluffs, he took up dirt biking in the hills with his friends and later with his son Alex and grandson Tayden. An aviation enthusiast inspired by his uncle John, Jim obtained his private pilot's license in 1990 and later earned his IFR license. Jim loved to fly to fly-in breakfasts, family gatherings, and to meet up with friends.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and hosting barbecues, tending the fireplace, making campfires and playing the banjo and harmonica. Jim could often be found taking quick power naps in the midst of his busy schedule. Jim will be sorely missed in our family and by all those that he helped in the community.

Jim is preceded in death by his son, Alexandre Morrow in 2004, father, William Morrow, father-in-law, Gerald J. Koch, both of Fort Dodge, stepfather Richard Good of Chesterville, Ohio, grandfather William Gilmartin of Merrit Island, Fla., and grandparents Grace and DJ Morrow, of Fort Dodge.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Morrow; daughters, Mindy Morrow with Isidro Hernandez and Loreta, grandchildren, Tayden Morrow, William, and Carlos Hernandez-Morrow of Sioux City, Iowa; Leslie and husband, Sebastian Fischer of Chicago, Illinois; mother, Ellie Good of Chesterville; mother-in-law, Eileen Koch of Fort Dodge; grandmother, Anne Gilmartin of Merrit Island; sister and husband, Terri and Steve Schuster of Gower, Missouri; nephew Daniel Evans and his children, Styrling and Hunter, niece, DeAnn Evans and her children, Max and Lee, nephews Patrick McLeod and Jesse Cook; half-sister Mary Jo Anglin of Fort Dodge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Gary Vinson and their children, Father Anthony, OSB, Sarah and husband, Brent Pritchard and their children, Lydia and Emily, Angie and Katie Vinson; Tom and Del Koch and their children, Greg, Nick, and Erica; Dan and Teresa Koch and their children, Dan, Phil, Tony, Stephanie, her son Taylor, Melanie and Shannon; Nancy Thomas and her children, Jenna and JT; Paul and Juanita Koch and their children, Nick, Emma and Maya; Jim and Tana Koch and their children, Eric, Ellie, Anna, Madeline, Thomas and James; Amy and Brian Peterson and their children, Sam, Gillian, Grace and Caroline.

The visitation will be held at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Council Bluffs from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday with a prayer and wake service at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will take place at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Monday with a luncheon following. The internment will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa with dinner following.

Memorials may be offered to Compassionate Friends of Omaha or the Saint Albert Class of 2013 Scholarship Fund.
