Dwight D. Hoersch, age 65, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 23, 2007, at Mercy Hospital from a sudden stroke.

Dwight was born September 17, 1942, in Yankton, S.D. He went to school in Treynor, Iowa. Dwight retired from the Douglas County Health Department in 2006 and was anxiously awaiting his wife's retirement in March 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Priscilla; daughters, Shannon Staton and husband, Mitch, Angela Mueller and husband, Ron; sister, Sandra, niece, Heather Tomsu and husband, Randy; "son" Eddie Vredenburgh; 5 grandchildren, Austin and Geoffery-Troy Staton, Madison Mueller, Brandon and Ariana Hoersch and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving son, Troy; brother, Robert and beloved mother and father, Reverend and Mrs. A. H. Hoersch.

He had been a member of the National Guard for many years, was a member of Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, the Council Bluffs Fish and Game Club and MAPA. Dwight's children and grandchilren were the light of his life.

Visitation will be Monday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, 1320 W. South Omaha Bridge Rd., Council Bluffs. Funeral service will be at the church, Tuesday, November 27th, 11:00 a.m, with Pastor Gill Hill officiating. Private interment will be at Zion Congregational Cemetery in Treynor, Iowa, for the immediate family and friends.

Memorials suggested to Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, Zion Congregational Church or Council Bluffs Fish and Game Club.
