Mary L. Steele, age 94, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 3, 2007, at Northcrest Care Center.

Mary was born June 3, 1913, in Imogene, Iowa, to the late Edward and Margaret (Perkins) Shoemaker. She married Emil D. Steele on July 3, 1937, in Nebraska City, Neb., and moved to Council Bluffs in 1945. Mary retired from Central National Insurance Company in 1975 after 21 years of service. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Retired Association Federal Postal Employees Chapter #449 and AARP.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Emil D. Steele in 1979; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Josie Andrews, nephew, Kenneth Brown and his family.

Visitation with the family, Thursday, 6 to 7 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Service, Friday, 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Neb.
