Margaret Adamson (1923-2007)

Margaret "Peg" Ingram Adamson, of Kimball, Neb., died Thursday, November 8, at Israel Family Hospice in Ames, Iowa. She was born in Dalton, Neb., on March 11, 1923, the daughter of Louis and Olive (Osborn) Gienau.

During childhood, she lived in a sod house in Nebraska, later moving to Council Bluffs and graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1942. She married Dean Ingram on September 26, 1942. He preceded her in death in August of 1992. She married Robert Wayne Adamson in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on February 14, 1998. They resided in Kimball, Nebraska. Illness necessitated her move to her daughter's in Ames shortly before her death.

Peg was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years, beginning as a telephone operator and advancing through the ranks to management, including supervisor of installers. She retired in 1983. She was involved in numerous Council Bluffs civic organizations, including Telephone Pioneers, president of Roosevelt PTA, Altrusa Club, March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels, and Red Cross Disaster Committee. She was a member locally of Epworth Methodist Church and most recently of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bushnell, NE.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; her brother and her sister.

Peg is survived by her husband, Wayne Adamson, of Kimball, Neb.; two daughters, Marilla (Dave) Fox, of Ames, Iowa; Karen (Dennis) Robertson, of Manchester, Iowa; four grandchildren, Rick (Tracy) Fox, of Chillicothe, Ill., Jeff (Kristin) Fox, of Escondido, Calif., Sandy (Mark) Steffen, of Ryan, Iowa, and Janet (Kevin) Meyer, of Clear Lake; two stepgranddaughters, Erica Skorstad, of Elkhorn, Neb., and Rhonda (Rod) Deitchler, of Silver City, Iowa; seven great grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren, Janice (Dennis) Randolph, of Kimball, Neb., Larry (Andrea) Adamson, of Denver, Colo., and Alan (Debra) Adamson, of Bushnell, Neb., and their children and grandchildren.

Her Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs with burial at Walnut Hills Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Epworth United Methodist Church. Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care of Ames, Iowa 515-292-(CARE)-2273, is assisting the family with arrangements.
