Linda J. Van Winkle, age 59, of Council Bluffs, passed away at her home surrounded by her family after courageously fighting cancer the past 18 months.

Linda was born January 7, 1948 in Council Bluffs to Lloyd and Beverly Newsom.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Bill; grandparents, Cecil and Goldie Newson, and Bill and Grace Buckridge and Uncle, Terry Newsom.

Linda will be sadly missed by her husband of 43 years, Doug; her children, Mark Van Winkle, Dan Van Winkle and Paula, and Kerri Frisbie and Varge; sister, Kristi Goldapp and Dan; brother, Scott Newsom and Renee, and John Newsom; her adoring grandchildren, Ashley, Cody and Dalton Van Winkle and Rylee Frisbie; her nieces and nephews, Chad, Tyler and Neysa Goldapp, Kyle and Casey Newsom; also her aunt Jane Van Scoy and uncle Doc Van Winkle and Katherine.

It was Linda's wishes to be cremated. There will be no viewing or memorial service at this time.

The family will direct memorials.
