John Steven Rihner, age 61, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., former resident of Corona Calif., passed away October 1, 2007, in California.

John was born on May 30, 1946, in Council Bluffs, to Grant and Ellen Rihner. He worked for Allied Sprinkler for 32 years, and served in the USMC for 3 years, earning the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion; loved watching Nascar "#24", and going to Vegas and Laughlin to gamble.

John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joella; daughters, Deborah Raber (Kelly), Tammy Murakami (Todd), Toni Williamson (Jim), Wendy Palazzo (Jon), Angie Labuda (Mitch); brothers, Rich Rihner (Sheila) and Jeff Rihner; sisters, Kay Lewis, Jude Czatkowski, Sue Schnepel, Becci Miller (Bob), Pat Morris; 17 Grandchildren.

Visitation Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service Tuesday 1:00 p.m. at Shelby United Lutheran Church, Rev. Dr. Duane Anunson, officiant. Interment Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, Iowa. Military rites tendered by American Legion #240.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to MDA-Jerry's Kids.
