Michael A. Torbensen, age 42, of Neola, Iowa, passed away October 1, 2007, at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

Michael was born November 25, 1964, in Sioux City, Iowa. He lived in Moorhead, Iowa, before moving to Baxter, Iowa, where he graduated from Baxter High School in 1983. Michael married Jody Leslie on August 31, 1991, and to this union one son was born. He attended IWCC and graduated in 1993 with an Associate Applied Science Degree in Diesel Technology.

Michael owned and operated the Crossroads Truck Repair in Avoca, Iowa. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Neola, Iowa.

Michael is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jody Torbensen, son, Nicholas Torbensen, both of Neola; mother, Celeste Torbensen of Hamburg, Iowa; sister, Karen Borris of Norwalk, Iowa; brother, Brian Torbensen of Grinnell, Iowa; in-laws, Gene and Sue Leslie of Atlantic, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Michael will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation with the family, Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Friday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 22163 Sumac Road, Neola, with Rev. Sara Jensen, pastor officiating. Interment St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery with a lunch following at the church.

Memorials may be offered to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
