Phyllis Elaine Sievers passed away on Thursday, 16 Aug 2007 at Cass Co. Memorial Hosp. in Atlantic, IA. She had attained the age of 81 years, nine months, five days. Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held Tuesday, 21 Aug at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, IA with burial in Layton Township Cem. in Walnut, IA. Pastor Dennis Reich officiated with Wayne Paulsen delivering the eulogy.

Honorary casket bearers were Howard and Ardis Bangston. Active casket bearers included Jack Ploen, Jeff Bornholdt, Allan Sievers, John L. Harding, Harry R. Hansen and Lowell Andersen.
Phyllis Elaine Sievers was born 11 Nov. 1925 in rural Shelby Co., IA. She was the daughter of Alfred and Bernice (Poulsen) Hansen.

She was baptized at the English Lutheran Church in Avoca. She attended country school at Layton Twp. and graduated from Walnut High School in 1943. After school she worked at Nick George's Red and White Store where she met Richard Sievers who was working as the bookkeeper for the Walnut Fruit & Grocery Store, where she then later worked.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Richard on 25 Dec 1945 at the English Lutheran Church in Avoca. They were the parents of two daugthers: Diane and Patricia.

The family lived on her parents farm west of Walnut until 1954 when they moved to a farm south of Avoca. In 1961 they moved to their present home southeast of Walnut. . . .

Phyllis was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Avoca; she was a member of Knox Project Club in Avoca for over 40 years.

She was preced in death by her parents. Phyllis is survived by her husband Richard of rural Walnut; her two daugthers: Diane Sievers of South Deerfield, MA and Patricia Lehnhardt and her husband James of Galena, IL; a grandson Aaron Lehnhardt and his wife Priscilla and their daughter Nyaa of Mission Viejo, CA; other relatives and friends.
