James Evert Nicholas II, age 81, of Princeton, Texas, passed away August 14, 2007, in Athens, Texas.

He was born August 10, 1926, in Imogene, Iowa, to James E. and Leah (Perkins) Nicholas. He married Margene May Treese in Shenandoah, Iowa, on April 3, 1949. Jim worked for the Iowa State Department of Transportation and was of the Methodist faith.

Preceding him in death were his wife; his daughter; his parents; three sisters; one brother; and one grandson.

He is survived by his children, James Nicholas III, of Princeton, Texas, Joe Nicholas, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Judy Pickrel, of Carlinville, Ill., Teresa DeMay, of Athens, Texas, and Amy Rengstorf, of New Braunfels, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, August 17, 2007, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2007, at First United Methodist Church in Lucas, Texas with Rev. Darrell Coats officiating. Interment will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Lucas.
