Richard C. Hubbard, age 83, of Council Bluffs, passed away August 6, 2007.

He was born May 2, 1924. Dick was proud of his service to his country in World War II as a member of the 8th Air Force, and continued those associations throughout his life. He was Past Worshipful Master (1968) of Bluff City Lodge #71 AF&AM. His brothers in the Masons were treasured. He also served the community through his work with the Tangier Temple of the Shriners. He had a life long career in transportation, and was always active in the Omaha Transportation Club. His friends were dear to him, and the regulars at 11Worth Café and his Thursday golf group were central to his life.

He dedicated his life to supporting his family, teaching his children important lessons of life through his own good deeds.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy; and brothers, Charles and George.

He is survived by his five children and their families: Richard and wife, Judy Hubbard; daughter, Debbie Hubbard; daughter, Abigail Hubbard and husband, Jan Goering; son, John Hubbard and wife, Carol; son, David Hubbard and wife, Robin; grandchildren, Rick Hubbard and wife, Jami, Shawn Hubbard and wife, Lorie, John Hubbard, Elaine Nolan, Valerie Stockinger and husband, Herman, Bill Hubbard, Erin Ramos and husband, Ben, and Marissa Brown and husband, Mike.

He had nine great grandchildren, who he truly treasured: Jacob Donald, Andy, Jacob Matthew, Kate, Nathan, Alex, Zach, Cody, and McKayla.

A family visitation to celebrate Dick's life will be held Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the Maher-Livingston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to the USO (www.uso.org), an organization that made a difference to him and his fellow soldiers during his service to his country, and one he supported throughout his life.
