James C. Nielsen, age 71, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away July 24, 2007, at his home.

He was born in Omaha, Neb., on February 5, 1936, to Niels C. and Margaret Christensen Nielsen, and graduated from Underwood High School, in 1954. James married Darlene Lake, on February 13, 1955, and to this marriage children, Nancy, David, and Randal were born. James worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 36 years and also was a longtime farmer in the Underwood, Neola area. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Boomer Township).

James leaves behind his beloved wife, Darlene, of Bella Vista; daughter, Nancy Barney, of Omaha; sons, David, of Omaha; Randal, of Neola, Iowa; granddaughters Tiffani and Rachel Nielsen, Angela and Megan Barney; sisters Jean Albertini and husband Al of Gardnerville, Nev., Elna Mathiasen and husband Peter of Chilliwick, British Columbia, Canada.

Visitation with family Saturday afternoon 4-6p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services, Sunday 2p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Boomer Township. Pastor Sara Jensen officiant. Interment in the church cemetery. Luncheon to follow at church.

Memorials are also suggested to the church.
