In the State Historical Library is a book named "Altoona, Iowa Cemetery Reading" by Robert Thompson, dated 1984,
He apparantly walked the old and new Altoona cemeteries.
The old cemetery has rows numbered from west to east and stones read North to South.

Row 17 -
First - Saffle, Silas - 30jan1857 to 1938/39 - youngest son of Elizabeth Saffle (no stone)
Next - Saffle, Elizabeth Vanes Masters - 3apr1818 to 8sep1905 (widow of Edward Saffle)

The listing of stones was combined with sexton records to get more information
