Am looking to contact any relative of Carl Hartzer Jr., probably born early 1920s, I think in Des Moines. Joined the Army Air Forces, fought as a P-51 pilot with the 1st Air Commando Group in India in WW II. Killed in aerial combat on Feb 14, 1944 over Burma. My father was flying with him that day and was also shot down, but survived. Believe Carl was good friends with another Polk Co. resident named William R. "Bill" Gilhousen who was also a pilot in the 1st Air Commando Group.
