Looking for my mother's birth certificate

Not sure you can help. I am trying to track down a birth certificate for my mom. She died in 2008. She was listed as living with her mom and dad and sister in the 1940 Census for Polk Country. Her mom passed away in 1941. She and her sister were given up for adoption via Des Moines Catholic Charities around 1942. My mom was adopted by Cleo and Erwin Weitgrefe of New Hampton, IA. I do have a "birth certificate" for mom that was issued very shortly after that adoption. Would that adoption birth certificate "take the place" of the original one that would have her blood parents listed? They were Mary and Robert Dennis. And the sister is Dorthy Mae Dennis. If you need more information I am glad to provide what I can. But mostly I can verify most of this, except for the issuance of a "new" birth certificate. Glad to have any perspectives you can offer.
