Diane Rita Zapf, 75, of Panora, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at her home. Diane was born August 20, 1936, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Lee and Eleanor (Winter) Baker also of St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Diane graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School and was a graduate of St. Gabriel's school of nursing in Little Falls, Minnesota. She married Richard Zapf on December 28, 1957, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Diane was a registered nurse at St. Cloud Hospital, Golden Valley Hospital and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After several moves, the family settled in Des Moines, Iowa where she practiced nursing at Veterans Administration Hospital. In 1988, Dick and Diane moved one last time to Lake Panorama, Panora, Iowa. Aside from being proud of her children, she especially enjoyed quilting, gardening, golfing, and was an accomplished artist of many medias.

Diane is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Richard Zapf of Panora; one son, Mark R. (Lynette) Zapf, of Loch Lloyd, MO; three daughters, Chrisanne B. (Robert) Dowd, of Des Moines; Kathryn M. (Stephen) Moline, of Panora; Kelly Jo (Sean) Mullane, of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren, a sister Renee (Jim) Goerger, of Richmond, MN; and brother Randy (Sue) Baker of Clear Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Baker of Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2012 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Panora. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, rural Guthrie Center. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
