Shirley Jean Nicholson passed on to our Lord and Savior surrounded by loving family and friends on January 10, 2011 at home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Ankeny Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Elkhart Christian Church with burial in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Shirley was born June 2, 1926 to Terrance and Maude Erickson. She grew up in Nevada. She and husband Bob resided in the Elkhart area for the last 41 years. She was very active in child evangelism. Shirley never met a stranger; she touched everyone she met.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her husband of 67 years Mercer (Bob) Nicholson, two daughters Bonnie Romesburg (OH) and Deborah Jacobs, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, Rex(Judy) Nicholson, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Iowa Hospice for their excellent care.
