Robert Charles Kowalski, 84, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at home in Des Moines, IA surrounded by his family. Robert was born August 21, 1927 in Evanston, IL to Joseph and Natalie Kowalski. He graduated from Iona College. Robert was an officer in the U.S. Navy. He worked in advertising for his entire life; and retired from Meredith Corporation. Robert had many interests, among them- volunteering at Mercy Hospital, playing bridge, golf, football and music. Robert was a member of Westchester Country Club for over 20 years.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jackie; his sister, Jane Cote of Maine; his children, Susan (Neil) Stockel of Rye Brook, Robert Jr. (Kim) of Mahopac, James (Geryl) of Cross River, Mary (Vito) Racanelli of New Fairfield, Ct; his step-children, Renae (Rick) Mabie, Tim Brown, Valerie (Mike) Krafka all of Des Moines, IA; his sixteen grandchildren; his seven great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and his best friend, Nick Distasio.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph Jr.; first wife, Betty and his step-son, Jim Brown.
Private graveside service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, New York.
