George Edward Willard, IV, 62, of Des Moines, passed away on July 19, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, 2 p.m., at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn's Chapel.
Ed was born September 9, 1949 to George and Nancy (Kistler) Willard in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1967.
Ed had been in the transportation industry for over 44 years. He served on the Boards for the Clive Lions Club, Clive Festival, Summit House Association and Scott County YMCA. He received the 2009 Clive Citizen of the Year Award.
Ed is survived by his mother, Nancy Ballance; wife, Jean, of 43 years; daughters, Christen (Mike) Thalman and Diane (Bob) Kenny; grandsons, Jonathan and Aaron Norris and Jack, Nicholas and Luke Kenny; granddaughters, Emily and Abby Thalman; sisters, Deb Lowe, Cindy (Jerry) Eagles and Mary (Scott) Miller; brothers, Lynn (Tita) Willard, Robert (Rhonda) Ballance and George (De) Willard; mother-in-law, Dorothy Cushing; and brother-in-law, Jim Cushing; special aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Stephen Ballance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for the Clive Historical Society.
